Canvas
The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) led a public engagement process called Canvas from July to September 2014. Over 300 people provided their ideas and comments during Canvas for the future use of the red zone land in Kaiapoi, Pines Beach and Kairaki. You can read more in the Canvas Summary Report (released in December 2014).

Kaiapoi
Put it into reserve for community use. Pity Courtney or ower Cass St Kaiapoi couldn't have been used for BMX track for Kaiapoi kids.
Kaiapoi
All the land that is near rivers I would like to see grassed with a few tables. BBQs s it can be enjoyed by others.
Kaiapoi
A mini "The Groynes" with canoes/kayaks etc. A mini golf course with a fun theme, like "Pirates cove mini golf course."
Barbeque and picnic areas maybe by the river, or in the above suggested "mini groynes" type space.
Cool childrens fantasy playgrounds, with safe environments... (that don't have unsavory characters loitering).
Like a sandpit, tyre swing, (big tyre laying flat to sit in). little obstacle course etc. Something that kids could only enjoy in playgrounds.

Ideas from 11 August Community Workshop:
* Walking tracks, cycling tracks
* Small lake to get bird life back
* No farms
* Picnic and BBQ areas
* No fences
* Not all flat land
* Big walking track like Styx Rd
* Dog Park
* Name the tracks after the streets that have gone so people can maintain a connection to the area
* Could have picnic/BBQ areas, also incorporate BMZ track
* Bring people back to the river
* Separate horse riding track
Totally agree with the dog park - and definitely make it better than the Rangiora one which is awful and is not looked after properly.
Would love to see a dog park in Kaiapoi. Great way to meet fellow dog owners and have somewhere safe to socialise our dogs without having to leave town.
Kaiapoi
I would like to suggest that unstable land be planted in trees and shrubs. I appreciate being able to go to Hazeldean Park in Rangiora and gather fallen walnuts. Also feijoas are an easy care crop.
Kaiapoi
Concert space, dance-o-mats, outdoor movie theatre, outdoor sports area
Kaiapoi
- More parking
- Rail to central Chch
- Link to university
- Better transport links
- Better Orbiter or similar service
- Health areas for elderly, improved access as we are an aging population
- Bus service: Rangiora to Oxford
Kaiapoi
The land is in the red zone should it not go back to what it originally was - wetland
yes, and demonstrate the different ecosystems that belong there and their natural dynamics. Sea level has come in and out over the last 10,000 years or so. It could be a fantastic demonstration of the interface of the spring waters emerging from the coastal plains to meet the saline waters of the coast. A wonderful opportunity for a demonstration of the dynamic land - sea interface as a beautiful park.

A BMX track to replace the one munted in quake in Kaiapoi in 2010. A car park on land near Murphy Park - for visitors to league games in park.

Parkland - lots of walkways to exercise and enjoy leisure.
Native planting.
Safe areas for children
Kaiapoi
As a mum of 3 kids I would like to see a mountain bike type cycle track perhaps with some small jumps etc for the kids to enjoy. The kids have lost the BMX track and unfortunately some residents don't want it rebuilt near housing areas so surely the large red zone areas would be perfect for something like this.
Totally agree. Please bring back BMX club to Kaiapoi.

A mix
1. Aboretums x2. one native, one exotic and woodlots.
2. Pasture - growth controlled by forage harvesting and sheep finishing.
3. Small area of community gardens.
4. Multi use exercise pathways
BMx would be good. Not sure if it will happen now that it went to Rangiora after Silverstream said no
