Kaiapoi
A landscape or patchwork of working gardens for helping feed the people: each person or group allocated a section to grow what they need: like a co-operative or a community working together
Kaiapoi
Walking tracks/paths, mountain bike trails, native bush, food forest, some open spaces too.

I don't want to see building consents issued for this land. I'd like it to be parklands - a mix of parks, playgrounds, walking tracks. Canterbury needs more green spaces to make up for high rate of housing.

maritime history park around Kaiapoi
-parks with BBQs like they do in Australia

Ideas from Community Workshop on Monday 18 August:
• Community arts space
• Native tree planting sculptures
• Obstacle course/playgrounds/climbing walls/’spider web’ frames
• Boat ramp, BBQ and picnic areas
• BMX track
• Basketball courts
• Please can lanes and private roads be resealed as mark of goodwill because of all the Council trucks up/down and digging holes in private roads (patchwork quilts of asphalt)
• Section clearance /demo timeline (especially Cass Street)
• Let’s have a walking and cycling track among the native plantings
• Allotments/community gardens /orchard walks/wild flower fields
• Dog Park
• Maybe some large areas go back to farmland

I would like to see this land turned back into prodective farm land. Cropping, market gardening (we have lost a lot) orchards or even vineyards. Not dairying
Kairakei would make a good holiday camp - plus a freedom camping area.
